Genevieve  and Jose’s wedding and reception were held at the LoftSEVEN Penthouse in the Haas Building on Seventh Street in downtown Los Angeles. Adding excitement to the day was the May Day Immigration Rally which took over that part of downtown earlier in the day. That being said, since Genevieve is an immigration attorney, we certainly wove that event into our photography. Gen with her father and sister.

Gen and Jose see each other for the first time on their wedding day. When I’m working with couples
who see each other before the ceremony, I always try to fashion a special moment.

I’m sure I have a photo of Jose dipping Gen and kissing her passionately … but this is a PG blog so I left it out.

I never include traditional portraits in my blog posts. That being said, here’s one to
appease the screaming masses who are always asking to see them.

 

The cool thing about this photo is Gen’s dad walking up the steps in the background.

Dana and Ken live in New York City (although Dana is from Los Angeles) but since they’re having a Pasadena wedding later this year, they wanted a beach engagement session–and what better place than on and around the Santa Monica Pier!

In case you were wondering, Ken is a boy and Dana is a girl …

… and sometimes like like standing next to each other …

… or staring moodily off into the distance.

Katie and Evan had a small, intimate wedding for friends and family on a bluff overlooking Paradise Cove in Malibu, California. They are Los Angeles area natives but now live in Chicago so this was a great location to celebrate their marriage. Friends and family stayed at the Malibu Country Inn  and that’s where the bride and groom got ready as well. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Katy & Tony’s wedding at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. The day started with Katy and Tony getting ready at the Los Angeles Downtown Marriott Hotel. Then we all went over to Union Station for some pre-ceremony wedding photography. After that, it was off to the Cathedral for the wedding and then back to Olvera Street and a short walk to Union Station for the reception. Tony’s father sang a few ballads with the Mariachi band. And with a little encouragement, Tony joined in the fun!

Jen and Minh selected Santa Monica for their engagement session and boy did they rock it! They were super fun to photograph which made my job crazy easy. And I’ve got to give them props for their cool wardrobe choices. Even though it was pretty chilly, you wouldn’t know it from Jen’s super hot sun dress. And Minh’s shirt was pretty damn cool; and I wasn’t afraid to tell him as much!

I still don’t know how they fit in this taxi!

When Minh met Jen, he told her he really liked strolling on the beach holding hands.

Minh also told Jen he liked making out under the pier.

Minh gets the prize for being the best jumper I’ve ever photographed. He performed six attempts and every one was perfect.

After I blew up these balloons, I was super tired!
